I starting a gift basket business from home and wanted everyones input on a certain topic. I have come up with a name for the business, but am decideing if i should register it with the county and state right now. I dont want to form an LLC and if the busincess fails go loose all the money just to form the LLC and then have to close it as well. The reason i would use an LLC is because incase someone gets sick or is allergic to peanuts or something and decides to come after me. Or is there something else i could do for the time being? any advice??
Since you are selling food you need to contact the health department and get a permit from them.

Looking at xmas gift packs for my staff and their families. Any gourmet cheese and sausages offered as a seperate gift pack by itself instead of the traditional large gift baskets? Don’t mind buying online but free shipping preffered. Thanks in advance.
I think winsconsin produce the best cheese. Not many online merchants offer gift packs for a cheese and sausage combo. The ones that I can find might be of interest to you. Packaging is real nice. It also has a customized gift basket segment.Comes with free shipping of course.

I want to get a thank you gift for someone at work who has helped me immensely.
I would want the cookies, but a diabetic or someone with other health issues may prefer flowers.

Use a sample of tea as a business card. Ever see "Half Baked"? Use a single tea bag (fully enclosed of course) and attach a card with your logo, address, and other relevant info. Relatively cheap, can be done anywhere, and will catch people’s attention.

Well, this is in Worcester, but I heard good things about it: Block 5 on Green St, near Kelly Square (don’t let the traffic scare you).

does anyone know of where i can get a good deal on business issurance. i just need liability issurance. i do the business from my spare room in my home. also how much do you think i should be covered for in this type of business. 1 million?
I’d suggest asking the company you already have insurance with. You may get a discount for having another type of insurance with them. I don’t know how much to be covered for, that’s something you’d have to ask them. But I’d think at least $100,000 would be safe, maybe more. $1 million seems really high. Check with wahm.com. I think there are some women who have this kind of business there. I sell Watkins kitchen products and can do gourmet baskets with their products (something I’m considering for fairs) but since I’m already an ind. associate with them and it’s their products, I don’t worry about insurance stuff. Best wishes to you!
