gourmet condiments

February 14, 2010

What foods really make you gag?

Just curious what food aversions everyone has?

Mine are: onions, cooked vegetables, alfredo or white sauce, condiments like ketchup, mustard, fruit juice

And whats ironic is that those are all the things I always LOVED the most!!! I love gourmet food. The weirder the better. Now its like all I want is food from P.J. Blands (LOL! Have u seen that commerical?)
Oh I am 11 weeks pregnant btw

The mexican desert Flan…..I can’t even look at it without gaging. GROSS!

  1. Hamburger Helper…I couldn’t even smell the stuff when I was pregnant without making a mad dash to the bathroom…but otherwise I just can’t eat the stuff.

  5. Chitlins – Yes, I tried them once.
    # Brussels’ Sprouts – I’ve tried ‘em in everything, and still don’t like ‘em.
    # Beets – Not even shaved thin.
    # Peas – Unless their dried, “wasabi” peas.
    # Corn – Ick, no. But I do like popcorn and Corn Nuts

  7. ha – PJ Blands!
Pretty much everything on earth made me throw up during pregnancies… but the one thing that never changed and was the same through both babies was bananas. I loved them before but my 2nd is 2 years old now and I still can’t even stand the smell of them. Everything else came and went day to day but that one still haunts me!
I was famous for ordering food at a restaurant and by the time they brought it out I couldn’t even look at it – I literally went to the bathroom to throw up. Hubby would ask them to box it and just bring me some soup or dessert or whatever I mentioned earlier and just hope that went better :)
It was really strange for me too. I never expected to be a person who had sickness just because I would eat practically anything under the sun before I was pregnant, especially healthy stuff so I thought I would be golden as far as nutrition and fitness, etc. way off!

  9. All Animal innards! DISGUSTING! No I’m not preg. no way, Being preg. would have a lot to do with that. When I was preg. with my first I couldn’t stand even the thought of eating tuna.

  11. My favorite food is Fajitas- I’m only 5 weeks but the other day I made a batch figuring I’d have them for lunch this week. Yesterday I sat down excited to eat my favorite food. I ate one fajita and it just didn’t taste so good- I took a bite of the next and I almost tossed all my cookies- I will NOT be eating anymore Fajitas this pregnancy! HAHA!

  12. Oh I am so happy to hear this from someone else. Cooked vegetables are now the bain of my existence. Weird b/c veggies were most of my diet before. I loved good food and now all I want to eat it boring bland things like bread. Just plain bread. I also am grossed out by chicken and bananas, 2 of my favs before. The thought of OJ makes me gag. This is my first (I’m 9 weeks) and it’s all very odd for me because I have always loved all types of food!

    Good luck on your pregnancy!
